Sivo pogosto imenujemo tudi barva svinca, kovine, smodnika. Odtenki, kot so npr. sivkasti, lahko pri ljudeh povzročijo nelagodje in to je treba upoštevati pri izbiri oblačil. Vijolična barva se v naravi zelo redko pojavlja. Predstavlja moč in eleganco zato, ker jo je nekoč nosilo plemstvo in kraljeve družine v škrlatnem odtenku. Pri oblačenju se je zato vijolični barvi zaželeno izogniti v primeru, kadar na nekoga želite pustiti estetski učinek enostavne, dostopne in sproščene osebe. Podobno velja tudi za zabave in zmenke, pri čemer se priporočajo predvsem vijolični detajli, namesto popolnoma vijolične kombinacije oblačil. Vijolična v sebi nosi umirjeno stabilnost modre in vročo energijo rdeče barve. Vijolično barvo povezujemo z modrostjo, bogastvom, ambicioznostjo, magijo, ekstravaganco, eleganco, misterioznostjo in z umetnostjo blagoslovitve in spiritualnosti. Preveč vijolične barve lahko povzroči učinek arogance in razdražljivosti. Najdemo jo tudi kot škrlatno barvo, barvo sivke, orhideje in vijoličic.
