Kadar gre za oblačila, obutev in styling, črna barva se najpogosteje psihološko zaznava kot izraz privlačnosti, inteligence in visoke samozavesti. Domnevno čez 66 % žena črno barvo na moškem šteje za izjemno seksi. Črnina se seveda povezuje tudi s pogrebi in smrtjo. Črna barva torej v zahodnih kulturah izziva tako pozitivna kot negativna čustva. Odtenke črne barve imenujemo tudi barva črnila, oglja, temna, zatemnjena in oniks. Oranžna barva, mešanica rdeče in rumene barve, je izraz energije in veselja ter sreče, ki predstavljata te dve barvi. Oranžna barva se torej povezuje z občutki radosti, sreče, toplote, sonca, navdušenja, kreativnosti, svobode in zabave. Obleči oranžne majice, obleke ali čevlje posebej ima smisla, kadar sebi ali drugim želite dvigniti samozavest, ponos in pozdraviti emocionalne bolečine. Oranžna v psihologiji spodbuja ljudi na druženje, dejavnost, empatijo, razumevanje in boljše odločitve. Glede na raziskave, oranžna barva prav tako izboljšuje apetit. Oranžno povezujemo tudi s poletnimi in jesenskimi kombinacijami oblačil, s soncem, vročino, morjem, bučami, pomarančami, mandarinami, ognjem, jesenskim listjem.
