Siva barva predstavlja barvo brez občutkov, formalno, konzervativno in zelo prefinjeno barvo. Pogosto se uporablja tudi v kontekstu umazanosti, dolgočasja in depresije. Temno siva barva komunicira moč in misterioznost črne. Svetlo siva barva je po naravi ženstvena, dokler je temno siva bolj moževna. Pravzaprav gre za odtenke črne barve. Sivo pogosto imenujemo tudi barva svinca, kovine, smodnika. Odtenki, kot so npr. sivkasti, lahko pri ljudeh povzročijo nelagodje in to je treba upoštevati pri izbiri oblačil.
