Imamo dolge jakne do izpod bokov, klasične jakne do bokov ali skrajšane jakne, tako imenovane »cropped«, ki segajo do pasa ali celo malo nad, potem imamo posebne jakne za nosečnice, jakne za močnejše postave, jakne za motor in skuter in tako dalje. Jakne so lahko izdelane iz različnih materialov. Ponavadi spomladi in poleti nosimo bolj lahke jakne, iz prozračnih materialov, dokler pozimi ali za dejavnosti na vetru nosimo debelejše jakne ali vodoneprepustne jakne za deževno vreme. Mogoče so napopularnejše usnjene in jeans jakne. Vedno so v modi in zelo dobro se kombinirajo z večino oblačil, ki jih nosimo za vsak dan ali večerne zmenke.
