Različni odtenki modre imajo drugačen pomen. Turkizna barva, nebeško modra in mornarsko modro barvo povezujemo s poletjem in morskimi oblačili, nebom, morjem in soncem. Preveč modre pa lahko prebudi občutek dolgočasja, melaholije in žalosti. Zelena barva je barva narave, energije, rasta, razvoja in življenja. Zelena predstavlja tudi harmonijo, sklad in šteje za najbolj pomirjujočo barvo za ljudsko oko. Zelena barva je barva, ki jo ljudje podzavestno radi dolgo časa opazujejo in na katero so navajeni, tudi kadar gre za oblačila, obutev in nakit. Primerno je obleči se v zeleno modre kombinacije tudi takrat, kadar se želi naglasiti varnost, sožitje z naravo in ekologijo, zdravje, pustolovščina in upanje. V različnih kulturah ima drugačen pomen, npr. na Irskem predstavlja srečo. Z druge strani, preveč zelene barve lahko povzroči letargijo, lenobo in depresijo. Zeleni dragi kamni in smaragdi so nekateri od najdražjih znanih primerkov dragega kamenja. Odtenki zelene so barva trave, mahovine, smaragda, olivno zelena, rumeno-zelena, barva bora, mete.
