Različni odtenki modre imajo drugačen pomen. Turkizna barva, nebeško modra in mornarsko modro barvo povezujemo s poletjem in morskimi oblačili, nebom, morjem in soncem. Preveč modre pa lahko prebudi občutek dolgočasja, melaholije in žalosti. Rdeča barva je barva ljubezni, strasti, toplote, poželenja, romantike, pogumnosti, krvi, ognja, akcije in gneva, hkrati pa je tudi ena od najpomembnejših barv v ljudski zgodovini. Rdeča barva je zelo opazna in intenzivna, polna naboja in emocij, ki istočasno predstavlja Kupida in hudiča. Rdeča izziva tudi višji krvni pritisk, večjo spolno željo, povečuje frekvenco dihanja, pospešuje metabolizem in povečuje raven samozavesti. Rdeča oblačila in obutev torej predstavljajo pogum in drznost. Ženam se priporoča rdeča barva pri razgovorih za službo in zmenkih ter v vseh priložnostih, kjer se želijo izpostaviti ker je dokazano, da moški boljše reagirajo na rdečo barvo na ženah in pogosteje izbirajo žene oblečene prav v rdečo barvo.
