Kadar gre za oblačila, obutev in styling, črna barva se najpogosteje psihološko zaznava kot izraz privlačnosti, inteligence in visoke samozavesti. Domnevno čez 66 % žena črno barvo na moškem šteje za izjemno seksi. Črnina se seveda povezuje tudi s pogrebi in smrtjo. Črna barva torej v zahodnih kulturah izziva tako pozitivna kot negativna čustva. Odtenke črne barve imenujemo tudi barva črnila, oglja, temna, zatemnjena in oniks. Bež, beige ali krem je nevtralna in umirjujoča barva, ki se popolnoma prilagaja v neštete kombinacije oblačil za vsakodnevno elegantno oblačenje.
